LBCC Board Procedure for filling Board Vacancies
The LBCC Board will use a slate procedure supplemented by nominations from the floor at the Annual Meeting to fill 3 year board member terms. The board will select “pro-tem” members to fill partial term vacated positions, as they occur.
Please understand that LBCC has a “working Board.” There are many tasks to accomplish. Currently, our needs include an editor for the newsletter, someone to sell and manage our sales items, a coordinator for the boater safety course, someone to be responsible for event signage, and a chairperson for Tee-shirt Night.
To be considered for a Board opening a member in good standing must submit a “vision statement” to the Board after October 1st but not later than April 1st of the subsequent year. The Board will use the “vision statements” to vet candidates and form a slate to be proposed to the membership at the Annual Meeting. Once the Board has decided on the slate, all members that submitted vision statements will be contacted and advised of the results before the slate is made public on the website June 1st. All vision statements will be confidential and destroyed after the vetting process.
The slate will be presented at the Annual Meeting and can be approved with a majority vote. Should there be additional nominations from the floor an election by ballot will take place including those on the slate and those nominated from the floor. Candidates receiving the majority of votes will fill the vacancies.
