Annual Meeting 6/25/22, 10 AM @ Methodist Church Hall Let your voice be heard at the 2022 Annual Meeting. All members or new members signing up at this event are welcome.
Boat Parade 7/3/22 (rain/wind date 7/4/22) 2 PM Theme: the 70’s Direction: counter clock wise
(decorated boats line up behind the LBCC-bannered gazebo. Parade will move counter-clockwise.)
Ring of Fire 7/2/22& 7/3/22 at dark
Fishing Derby 7/23/22 @ Nautical Moose/Marina: Fish weighed 10am-2:45pm. Awards at 3 PM. Under 18 years only may participate.
Annual Picnic & Basket Raffle 8/6/22, 11:30 AM @ Harrisville Fire Hall. Baskets needed! (Please bring to the Fire Hall by 11:30 or give to a board member prior to event. Tickets will be 1 for $5)

A postage paid return envelope is included which can be used to renew your membership, purchase raffle tickets for each raffle item, and make a donation to the LBCC to continue its mission of preserving our precious lake. Please include your information as requested, enclose your completed raffle tickets, & return with your check by June 30th. You’re welcome to keep a record for yourself below.

Annual Meeting- The annual meeting will be on June 25th at the Methodist Church Hall. We will be electing board members to three-year terms. Anyone interested in serving on the LBCC Board should contact the current President, Sam at 315-921-5118.
Boat Parade Winners (2021) –Power Boat: #1 Glenn Johnson, #2 Bruna Family, #3 Leubner Family; Pontoon Boat: #1 Erika Hanks, Nicole Leblond, #2 JD & Alicia Logan, #3 Johnsons, Buyeas, & Ritchers
This year’s boat parade will be “the 70’s” . Use your imagination, the 70’s was more than gas lines, leisure suits, and platform shoes.
Boater Safety – Anyone born on or after January 1st 1988 who pilots a personal water craft must carry verification of having passed the boater safety course. By 2025 this verification of passing the boater safety course will be required for all. There are multiple on line courses (Boater safety courses are only available on line.)
Buoys – 5 mph buoys are placed by both volunteers- thank you Roger McClure, and NYS management. Boaters and jet skiers, please keep your distance from all buoys.
Fishing Derby Grand Prize Winner (2021)- Collin Kirk, age 8 - 2 lb. 14 oz. Pike
This year’s Poncho Young Fishing Derby will be on July 23rd and weigh ins run from 10-2:45 at the Nautical Moose Marina. Prizes awarded at 3. In the past we have accepted all fish, but we must follow NYS recently changed regulations and Crappies must be 10 inches long to be kept.
Fish Stocking – 4/14/22 NYS delivered LBCC the usual allotment of 2400 lake trout and 1800 brown trout.
Gazebo – Have you SEEN the Gazebo? Mr. Grant contracting improved the base for the bridge and kissing booth, as well as the gazebo. The new roof shingles should last 50 years. The structure has been restored to its former glory. Many thanks to Stan Czepiel for his hard work in coordinating this restoration.
Hiking Trail- The state is working on putting a parking area in at the entrance to the Bonaparte Caves Trail – North Shore Road near the Reader Lane area. The trail is open and is currently marked with flagging tape.
Lewis County Sheriff – The Boston Whaler patrol boat will be on the lake again this summer. Problems with boaters or swimmers may be reported by calling 315-376-3511
Membership – The 2022 dues have increased to keep up with the economy. $45 per family, $35 per couple, $25 per individual. Please return the enclosed membership form & completed raffle tickets with your check, by
In Memoriam – Since our last Newsletter, we are aware of the loss of several members and neighbors on the lake: Skip (Floyd) Weeks, Jack Ford, Anne Johnson, James Williamson
SELO Inspections: Harmful water invasive species, especially zebra mussels, will be monitored at the boat launch. Zebra mussels spread by multiple eggs lying on the water surface which can plug camp water intake pipes as well as the water intake on your boat engine. A knowledgeable speaker on the subject will present at the annual meeting.
State Boat Launch and Campsites – These are monitored by DEC Ranger Hanno. He can be reached at 315-640-0138 to report any problems.
Spraying –Mosquito control spraying will occur by plane if deemed necessary. The spray is a naturally occurring substance and is approved by Public Health.
The Ring of Fire – This July 4th tradition will continue. Flares will be sold at: Chuck’s Market, Harrisville Hardware, and the Bonaparte Candle Company. The cost will remain the same as last year.

Water Quality – Many thanks to Ray Powers, Dick Kahn, and the Wicks family for helping with our CSLAP Citizens Scientific Lakes Assessment Program. The water quality in the lake continues to remain very stable. Lake Bonaparte is considered a benchmark of lakes in the state. Lake Bonaparte is winning the war on milfoil thanks to our insect allies. Please allow our helpful insects to have a place to live on the lake shore by not removing leaves nor mowing grass 4 feet from the lake shore Labor Day to Memorial Day
911 – You are encouraged to post your 911 property numbers to your docks and buildings.
